The department of Histopathology gives opinion on specimens from Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Urology, Cardiology, Orthopedics, Respiratory Medicine and highly specialized areas such as Oncology and Transplant units. Immunohistochemistry offers updated diagnostic and prognostic applications in the field of oncology. Frozen section technique allows rapid diagnosis for immediate decisions regarding intra-operative and postoperative patient management. Being a superspeciallized centre cases of transplant pathology and urgent biopsies are dealt with minimum turnaround time. The lab is equipped with automated tissue processors, cryostat, microtome and embedding machine. The wide repertoire of IHC antibodies (approx. 130) covers practically every tumour group and type, both common and uncommon. The IHC Panel is inclusive of unknown primary/ IgG4 diseases/ MSI testing / Amyloidosis/ PFIC panel. C4d immunohistochemistry as well as Immunofluorescence is used to aid in diagnosis of antibody mediated rejection.
