Smoking Cessation ClinicOn the occasion of world no tobacco day, 31st May 2010. A smoking cessation clinic was inaugurated at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute by Mr. Bhavdeep Singh- CEO, Fortis Healthcare Ltd.
This Clinic will run every Monday from 3.00pm -5.00pm.

7 people die every minute due to smoking. Lung cancer risk is increased by 50-100% for each cigarette smoked and the risk of heart attack increases by 100% for each pocket smoked. It is known that 70% of Indian smokers want to quit smoking but do not know how to go about it.

This clinic will cater to the people who want to quit smoking by addressing their individual problems and by giving them medical and psychological support. We at FEHI have created special packages to address this problem and to help people to overcome their addiction.

 

 

 

Special Packages :

 

Package-A

  • For patients ready to quit

Includes:
Consultations

  • Pulmonologist (9 visits)
  • Psychologist (3 visits individual)

Investigations

  • At time joining the Quit program: X-ray Chest, ECG, PFT (Pre & Post bronchodilator), Haemogram, SpO2
  • Medication to help in quitting smoking for up to 12 weeks
  • Telephonic counseling / helpline
  • Self help material (Rs.15,000.00 )

Package-B

  • For patients from PHC/ those having investigations already done recently
  • Includes everything in PACKAGE A, investigations not repeated at the beginning (Rs.13,000.00 )

Package-C

  • For ready group who do not require specific medication to quit smoking.
  • For patients who have quit recently (action) or are ex-smokers (maintenance)

Exclusion:

  • Nicotine replacement therapy
  • Specific medication to help in smoking cessation if needed beyond 12 weeks.
  • Medication for smoking related diseases
  • Any investigations required after the initial recruitment into the quit program
  • Any other medical cross consultation (other than pulmonologist/ psychologist)
