Dr. Suman Bhandari, Director - Interventional Cardiology at Foris Escorts Heart Institute, has a significant contribution in making Fortis Escorts an institution doing the largest number of angioplasties & CABG’s in the Asia Pacific region. Dr. Suman personally performs 2000 angiograms and 600 Precutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasties annually. Dr Bhandari has about 100 papers in national & international journal articles to his name and is the Editor of Indian Heart Journal and is also a member in the International Editorial Board of Heart since 2005.
Dr. Bhandari has written two books, Heart Ailments and How to quit smoking, for lay people, has won many awards some of which are Marquis “Who’s Who in the world”, Rashtriya Rattan Award and Twentieth Century Admirable Achievers Award. Born in 1955, Dr. Suman completed his MBBS and MD from Medical College Rohtak and DM, Cardiology from AIIMS, New Delhi. He has been trained for a year in Interventional Cardiology at Rouen (France) and Leuven (Belgium) in 92, having also had visiting fellowships in Rotterdam, Toulouse and Clevland Clinic.
Dr. Bhandari became the fellow of Society of Angiography and Intervention and Fellow of European Society of Cardiology and is also a fellow of American College of Cardiology since 2004. Dr. Bhandari is the life member of Cardiological Society of India and the Association of Physicians of India. He has been invited as a guest faculty in various National and International Conferences and for lectures at various places across India. Apart from his busy schedule he has been actively involved in community outreach programmes initiated by Fortis Escorts Heart Institute and various NGOs.
