The main focus of the department of Microbiology is to provide high quality service and constantly strive to improve standards. Over the last decade, this department has attained important milestones, moving a step ahead from manual to the latest automated methods. The clinical microbiology laboratory plays a critical role in the timely identification of microbial pathogens and the performance of susceptibility testing. The efficiency of the laboratory in meticulously following internationally recommended techniques, adhering to various elaborate inbuilt control protocols and guidelines reflects in the accurate test results. All samples, including Blood, CSF and other body fluids, are investigated in detail.
In addition, we are monitoring antimicrobial susceptibility pattern which plays a vital role for making informed decisions about empiric and definitive antibiotic therapy.
In fact, at present our laboratory is working towards achieving NABL Accreditation.
The departmental staff is proactively involved in hospital infection prevention and control.
In addition to all this, students from different parts of the country come to our department for training.
Our faculty members organize and participate in national and international conferences, seminars, symposia.
